Volvo V70 PCV
Volvo inline five cylinder engines have an odd PCV system. Essentially they go to a catch-can attached to the block and the oil/vapor/condensate is returned to the case.
The OEM system is under the intake manifold and really hard to get at to repair
I modified my system to add a generic PCV valve on top of the engine. This is piped to a small reservoir and then piped to the intake manifold.
The problem is I am getting a lot of condensate in my catch can. I suspect that this might be a result of blow-by on the rings? The car runs really well, there can't be a lot wrong with my engine and it recently passed emissions testing with a clean bill of health. (engine has about 180,000 miles and does not smoke)
These engines are notorious for milky froth on the dipstick, my PCV system prevents that, the oil looks great, but I have to dump the watery oily mess every two weeks.
Maybe forget the whole 'containment' idea and drip the residue onto the road like lots of other people do?
