slight loss of accelearation

I've owned my 02 996 for about 4 months and have noticed a loss of power. Not the usual, "I'm getting used to it'.

The car had a KICK to it above 35-6500rpm but now it's flat all the way up through the rpm range. NO, it's not a dawg but it is noticeable. Before I left on a long trip I had a code reading secondary air injector. I erased it and did a quick tune up in a bottle. Not much change. The day before leaving for return trip back came the code. Called my mechanic Son and he advised some good injector cleaner and some octane boost just to see what happens. After a few hours of driving the CAR WOKE UP!! the kick was back with a big smile on my face. Now it's back to it's lazy days again.

Research has given me a few areas such as mass air, secondary air inj. I don't have a good shop manual but I believe I read that the 996 3.6 engine does have a secondary much like the old 4 barrel carbs I grew up with and it acts as if it's only running on the front two. Any ideas. thanks, tom m Ocala, FL
