I don't think Laguna is too scary. It's got flow and you can see most corners so it's not hard to imagine where the track should go before you actually memorize it. There are topography and landmarks to follow.

Turn 1 is a kink on the main straight over a brow, so just remember to aim/angle the car kinda to the left to keep on the track. Turn 2 is a hairpin where there's no single right way to do it, but if you manage to get towards the outside it always seems to be loose out there. Turn 3 is just a little bit tighter than 90 degrees. Turn 4 is just a little bit greater than 90 degrees. Turn 5 you line up under the bridge and late apex to go up the hill. Turn 6 is just a touch of the brakes. Going up the hill, you line yourself up to the overhead bridge to aim yourself for the kink of turn 7, which is done under braking making it a little bit tricky for the entrance to turn 8a/8b, the Corkscrew. Remember to aim for the 2nd oak tree when you turn left for the Corkscrew, as you can't see the track surface itself. Turn 9 is a late apex as you go under another bridge. Turn 10 is a straightforward downhill right-hander, and turn 11 is a tight hairpin leading back onto the main straight.
