Many of the higher end long hood sales (and the rare short hood sales..Speedsters etc) are private sales. In other words, never reach the open market.
I know this because I have chatted with the wonderful folks at Hagerty about their pricing guides. They get a majority of their data from their actual customers who report that they sold their car for X and then buyers reporting that they paid Y.
