No experience with that particular "klunk" but it sounds like you have isolated it to either the strut/shock assembly itself or the torsion bar assembly. I would try to eliminate one of them--maybe remove the torsion bar or at least disconnect the rear cap so that it isn't involved and see if the clunk is still there? Might be a good time to look at the bushings anyway--they could be so worn that the T-bar is binding.
