back up camera questions

I have an old truck camper that I am restoring. This is the type of camper that when it is in/on the truck bed the overhang covers up the truck lights/license plate. The truck camper has it's own brake/turn/running lights and license plate holder that work when plugged into the truck.
I want to add a back up camera to the camper to make it easier to see behind and also to hook up a boat or car trailer. In my opinion I have two options. One is mount a camper only dedicated camera to be powered by one of the running lights on the back of the rig. Most guys tap into the center light on the back. Good viewing angle being mounted up high. To turn the camera on you just flip on the running lights.
Option two is to add a back up camera in the license plate area. I like this idea because I could use it on the truck without the camper on and then on the camper when it's on the truck. I would put a power pigtail on both so it would just slip in/out. So to move from one vehicle to the other two screws from the license plate and done. Downside is camera angle obviously much lower.
So for those of you that have added cameras how do you like them ? And what brand/type are you using ? In either case my plan is to go wireless. Sorry for the long winded post.
