I sometimes search Craigslist for Toyota Supras since I'm kinda interested in getting one after seeing how a modified Supra Turbo was just barely able to catch up with my 545 hp 930, and I've been noticing something about the Mk. IV (1993-2002 model) Supra lately. It seems as if the stock Mk. IV's, even the twin turbo model, go for less than ones that are modified. This particular model of Supras, just like our old 911's, are rising in value, but also, in any car, modification lowers the value, so the modifications never pay for themselves once the car is sold. Despite this, I often see modified Supra Turbos (the really nice ones with 600-1000 hp) with 50,000-80,000 miles go for over twice as much as ones that are stock with around the same mileage, sometimes even as little as 20,000 miles, which is very low for a 1990's Toyota

Comparing this to a 930, modded ones with varying mileage can go for $40,000-$60,000 (I bought mine within this price range), while stock 930's with low mileage can go for up to $80,000, sometimes even $100,000. It seems pretty complicated if you ask me.
This just somewhat doesn't make sense to me as to why a modified Supra seemingly gains value compared to one that's stock, or maybe the value of a Mk. IV Supra is much higher than I think. I'm also aware that condition affects the value as well, so the ones I'm referring to are in good to great condition.
Does anyone, possibly someone who owns (or owned) a modified Mk. IV Supra know why this is?
Thanks,
