Telefoto... A Rattlesnake can only strike 1/3 to 1/2 its body length. The average Western Diamondback is 24"-30" in length. A BIG snake would be 40". That means the effective striking distance of a REALY BIG snake would be no more than 24". You can get that pic from 8 Feet away with a kit lens.
