This 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet is a nice example finished in Cassis Red Metallic (L80D) over Burgundy Leather-Leatherette interior & Black Top. It has a production date of November, 1987. It was delivered new in March, 1988 to ******** of Asheville Porsche, Dealer #1019 with a “first in service date” of March, 1988.
Not much information is available from service records to track the servicing, however, from the service maintenance stamps as well as the CarProof Report it appears the car was first registered in Jacksonville, Florida. From the stamps in the maintenance booklet the car was serviced at:
Franz Foreign Car Service, (Jacksonville, Fl.) (mileage from ~141 to 7,400 miles)
Brumos Porsche, (Jacksonville, Florida) (mileage from ~7,400 to 25,685 miles)
Rennsport Daytona, Inc. (Daytona, Fl.) (mileage from ~25,685 to 63,235 miles)
In 1994 with mileage of 66,900 the car is registered in Virginia, no mention of a new owner only that a title or registration had been issued.
In 2004 with mileage of 96,003 a vehicle purchase is reported and a “new owner registered” by the Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Department (East Sandwich, MA).
In March of 2007 the car is imported into Ontario, Canada via Cornwall, Ontario with mileage of 105,768. The Ontario Ministry of Transportation shows a registration issued as a personal vehicle.
AutoSport911 acquired the car in June of 2014 with an Odometer reading of 109,974 miles (see *Note regarding mileage)
The car appears to have been well maintained based on the overall condition of exterior, interior & under carriage. The paint looks quite good, however, I tested the paint with a paint thickness meter and the car had been painted at some point, it does look like a glass out paint job due to the lack of obvious over-spray and visual indications, I would say it is a 7.5 out of 10. It does show the normal signs of wear, but not bad, slight stone chips and door dings. The car does not leak oil at all, I did not notice any smoke on start-up or during heavy acceleration. Car is wearing Bridgestone Potenza RE 760 Sport with ~1,000 miles on Fuchs, 16x6&7.
Spare tire, jack, original owner’s manual & service booklet with maintenance stamps and two sets of keys come with the car. The original Window Sticker is also included.
A CarProof Report is available for review,
- No police reported accidents found,
- No insurance claims found,
- No estimates or damage records found and,
- No theft recovery or salvage title records found, however, there was an incident reported in July 1993, “left rear impact with a fence” as stated in the CarProof Report.
Our inspection of the car was detailed and thorough and the car shows very well and drives extremely smooth and straight. Very close inspection reveals slight repair work on the inside of the drivers' door jamb as well as the inner door seam. If this is from the "fence Incidant" from 1993 it has held up extremely well?
*Note: The odometer reading does not reflect the vehicle’s total actual mileage. This vehicle reflects an incorrect odometer reading due to the following reason, the odometer – broken, stopped functioning.
On or about June 21, 2011 was the last documented mileage as recorded by Ontario Drive Clean emission test facility with 109,974 miles. From the time the odometer stopped working as dated herein until the time the vehicle was sold to AutoSport Canada (June, 2014) the vehicle travelled approximately 3,000 miles. (approximately 1,000 miles per year during this period of time)
A copy of the Odometer Discrepancy Affidavit will be made available to interested parties, this document, sworn by the previous owner validates the usage of the vehicle during the time the odometer stopped working. He is available to speak with any interested party to verify his statement & discuss the car. At 75 and owner of several Porsche's, this one was driven the least so he decided it was time to sell.
This mileage usage of approximately 1,000 miles per year appears to be consistent with the mileage travelled from the time the owner imported the car into Ontario, (March 2007 with mileage @ 105,768) and the time the odometer stopped working on or about June 21, 2011 with mileage at 109,974. During this 4 year and 3 month period the car travelled approximately 4,206 miles or ~1,000 miles per year.
$23,500 with slight imperfections.
