Turns out it wasn't a missing wire...the 1996 obd-ii wires are different colors on the x4/2 harness. Got that sorted and think I am now dealing with a dead CPS. I will know for sure when I get a new CPS in my hands.
I plan to post the right colors for others to reference when I get a chance to sit down in front of the computer. While I wait for a new CPS, I get to install new linkages in the tunnel...later clutch cable and 964 throttle cable. Fun!
