I did some sniffing around and based on this fourm's posts, Modena Engineering in Germany did the restoration over 10 years ago.

Would be nice to know the history of the current motor. From what little bit I read, Sieffert loaned the car for use in the movie and Solar Productions had to borrow a motor from Zuffenhausen and then return it after the production.
Would be sweet if they mated the car with that loaned motor again.

The engine was sourced in the US. Some stolen 917 engines were found back and this is one of them.
