The contaminated fuel is not much of a big deal. If you have even been inside a naval vessel fuel tank you would know. Ships have fuel oil purifiers, the fuel tanks are compensated with sea water as normal practice (helps with stability).
The shot of the 5" gun loading was kinda cool. 20 years of shooting those things and tearing them apart for cleaning etc. and I never got a view of a round loading into the chamber. Thats how I pictured it looking. GOPRO cameras have changed the world. My guns were never that dirty BTW.
Yea the fuse in the load center was probably not included in the operation manuals used by the crew. What we didn't see was were the turbine generators still running? and the Switch boards not closing the circuit. vital Shipsystems would have been running on UPS.
