Several years ago there was a bounty here on foxes because so many were rabid. As you know, full blown rabies is 100 percent fatal to humans.

We've had to shoot two who were obviously rabid...any fox I see in broad day light is suspect. You know it when you see it.
Otherwise, they help with pest control. Our chickens have a high coop, the barn cats have never been bothered by them and my dogs are all of size and temperament to be safe and are in at night.
