I was on the tender Emory S Land for two years. Cool thing about being on a tender is that I got onboard just about every ship and sub class when they pulled alongside for service. I have a stack of coins and ball caps a mile high... I tried to get one for every tended unit that tied on our side, got a couple British ones too. Got to tour the Charles De Gaule (France) too. Got out of the Navy at 10 years. Tried to stay in the reserves for one year but it wasn't for me. Don't regret it at all. Navy was a fun ride but it was time to move on. Got selected for CDR just before I left the reserves but it wasn't enough to make me stay.
