The 320i is a lot nicer? Seriously? I challenge you to go really look at one with an open mind. Your mom's Focus isn't far off in build quality or fit/finish. I'm not dissing the 3er as much as stating how good all manufacturers are today. Go take a look yourself.
Then ask yourself if the $85K M3 is any nicer than the $32K 320i, except for the seats. Some people would rather compare it to other $85K cars.... say, a base M-B S550... then the M3 looks like a "chit box".
It's really that simple.
