I have sold quite a few posters over the last couple of years. While not a total expert, I have some insight.
In the early 70's they started printing more and more of each poster and as the 70's went on they began to use better materials making them much more common than the 50's and 60's stuff. Values drop pretty rapidly as you move through the 70's. (plus the subject matter isnt as valuable.)
Condition is a huge component of value too.
60's era posters sell in the $300 - $3000 range depending on subject matter and condition. Early 70's (917 stuff) are usually in the $200-400 range. Later '70s and 80s are $20-$150...again depending on condition.
