Porsche’s 458-rivaling supercar is expected to go on sale in 2017, and will usher in a wave of new models, such as a turbocharged four-cylinder Boxster and Cayman, as well as a new architecture pegged to underpin all mid- and rear-engine models.

Interesting article, but what I found most interesting was this comment by one of the readers.

As much as I admire and understand what Porsche is doing by designing any engine that's flat, the ideas itself has a big flaw for a person like me, which is wear and tear on one side of the cylinders. Much lower center of gravity and all is very good, but throwing engine out every 50K or so is not something I would be thrilled to do. And I would never drive the car like a pro where that flat design would truly come handy. But, I bet it would be very fun to drive.

I've never heard of cylinders wearing unevenly on flat engines compared to in-line engines or inclined angle V-engines.
Throwing out a flat engine after 50,000 miles.....................all those VW Beetle engines going one million miles or more are just urban legends then?
This guy might have to change his name, not going to live this one down.
