I don't often laugh at the misfortune of others, but last night I admit I had a good one.
A few miles east of my home, there was evidence of Hooning, a pair of long black tire marks and a good dose of karma at the end. I might have mis-interpreted the marks, but here is what I saw.
A couple of car-lengths east of a driveway of a fellow I know the marks started in a small "fish hook". I suspect the driver backed out on to the road and nailed it in drive while the car was still rolling back. There was an interruption in the marks, I suspect the transmission found second about there . Then things got interesting.
After about 20 yards in second, the marks were trending toward the ditch on the right, then angled across the centre line. The driver (with their foot still well and truely into the throttle) corrected and the marks headed back to the right. The black marks ended about half the width of the lane from the ditch, to be replaced with brief brake marks which ended in the ditch itself.
I can't imagine the driver called the police but if there was an officcer on the scene it would probably be listed as "Stunting", which gets expensive around here.
Don't really know who was the driver, but a certain Fox-body Mustang is among the prime candidates.
Some people shouldn't drive cars with more horsepower than they have IQ points.
