From a Computer Forum:
Brand New TouchSmart 300 internal microphone not working.
I have been trying to get my internal microphone to work with Skype.
I have done all the tests suggested and everything says that my microphone is working!
When I record anything I get a muffled noise not anything like speech.
If I record on Windows 7 Sound Recorder the green bar stays at 25% but no sound.
Is there a simple fix as really do not want to take it back to the shop to have it sent away under warranty?

Re-install Skype, and the drivers.
Reinstall drivers from Recovery Manager or download them from your update site at
HP Customer Support | HP® Support .
You can find your PN by pressing CTRL + ALT + S.
Update skype, or reinstall it, as I'm sure the latest version is compatible with Windows 7.
