I sorta get what you’re saying. I made blanket statements like that when I was in my angry 16 to 18 year old punk phase. And to be honest, I turned a blind eye to lots of really great music, that in my 30s-40s (I’m now 45) I get to rediscover. I’m not sure I was as big a fan of the “grunge years” then, as I am now. People are people, they like what they like (or don’t). And plenty of "douche bags" don’t listen to anything at all.
