Timing Belt Tension
I will be changing my timing/balance shaft belts very soon. If I use a tensioner gauge, does anyone know what the specs are suppose to be, and where do you take the readings from. If I cannot obtain a tensioner gauge, then what method does everyone use to tighten the belts correctly. I have on other cars gone by the "twist the belt half an inch at it’s longest point", or “5 o'clock from center” rule.
PS. My Porsche is a 1987, 944 Turbo - I heard they may have an automatic tensioner - should I use it? I have read they are very inaccurate.
