You want your oil temp to be at least 220, but not over 250. If it gets hotter than 250 some of the additives can start to breakdown, at least that's what I've read. However for shorter time periods your synthetics can tolerate temps as high as 300 degrees. However you would want to change your oil after that.

I'm installing an aircraft oil cooler with custom made aircraft insulated hoses.
