I was at an outdoor memorial service over the weekend in L.A., 200+ people sitting on folding chairs out in the hot sun with no shade. It was in the 80s with slight humidity and people were really uncomfortable. The sun is brutal in this latitude. All I could think about was other parts of the country and how much it would suck to be in them, we are just never uncomfortable like that here.
Why on earth people would voluntarily live in these places baffles me. In the old days, when RE was cheap, hardly anyone lived in AZ.

Yeah...and then Californians (and people from just about everywhere else) heard about how awesome it is to live here, and they've been coming in droves ever since. It's getting pretty crowded, actually...
