I have a buddy who lives in SJ, so I've been there quite a few times recently.

Thoughts:

Traffic is a nightmare

BART is extremely difficult to figure out and doesn't take you everywhere in the Bay area

Rents aren't too bad. A 1 BDR apartment in Willow Glen is $1600ish

Food and drinks are ridiculously overpriced, at least by SoCal standards

Real estate values are very high

Wait times at decent restaurants are long everywhere you go
