Wow. I never knew how bad I had it.
Personally, after 30+ years here it ct I like it.
Weather: we get a large number of gorgeous driving days April to November. Sure it can get steamy. Dec to March is winter. Salt and stuff. Park the car. But, and it is significant, winter often doesn't start to late dec early jan. Also a hard rain in February March will start season early.
Roads, off the highway can be rough but they are NOT straight. Highway commuter traffic can be LA, esp I95.
Yes three cities have bad sections. Don't live there. 5 miles away is rural/suburban.
NYC. Boston. White mountain. The sound. The cape. Adirondacks. All within 4 hours. DC is 6+ hours
Lime rock. NHIS. Pocono. And now Thompson speedway. All easy drives.
Taxes suck. But you get services. And they are deductable.
I might not move to Meriden. Check Zillow or something similar to get an idea of cost and schools. But, my town, Windsor will fare poorly. Except everyone from other towns seem to spend time in our parks and using the services my tax pay for.
I'm from CT.
