David T wanted me to buy a dark dark dark blue 6 cylinder Cayenne being advertised for the same price at our local dealer. The 6 has 77K miles, the S has 120K.
David said he would get the one with smaller motor and lower mileage because it will get better gas mileage and have fewer problems. Gas mileage is rated a whole 1 mpg lower both city and highway on the S. Called salesman friend at local dealer he said I do not want the 6 they are selling. It has a host of problems, rattles, suspension creeks, ABS, brake wear, and check engine lights come on after a few minutes of driving. Said it is being listed and shown by the Cadillac part of their car lot and probably on the lot to bring in SUV buyers to make their Cadillac SUVs look better so they could up-sale.
Drove the Rover around close to home for about 10 minutes in the afternoon heat. It started doing the same thing, hesitation and backfiring when applying throttle. Let it set for 10 minutes then limped it home accelerating very gradually. Every once in a while it would run normally for a few seconds then back to no power. Ordered a new ignition module $45.
