Continuing to research this.
The traditional security camera systems, that are wireless and reasonably priced, get poor reviews for video quality. Lots of comments like can't read a license plate or recognize a person more than 20 feet away.
How is Dropcam's image quality? How far away can you read a license plate in daylight? How about identifying a face? How about at night? Has anyone tried supplementing Dropcam with a standalone infrared light?
Also, I'm reading that each Dropcam, if using cloud recording, will consume 3GB/day bandwidth. Three cameras at 90GB/mo per each - almost 300GB/mo - that would make me worried about tripping some Comcast cap. Anyone face this issue? Do you set to only record on motion alerts?
