not sure why you think the OEM coil is garbage. that might be internet sales hype. mine works great. i changed it only because i wanted to put in a new one. the old one still worked great too. i think i still have it. in over 30 years, i think i may have changed out 3 coils due to failures, and that was out of hundreds of cars. it's just not something that ever happened. of the 2000 plus guys i know of with a 968, only 1 i know of has had to change the coil.
p.s. - i have never seen or heard of a coil failing due to vibration. that beings said, i think a rubber mount would resolve that.
