In my case I used the two jack points on the side of the car to catch the strap and that also worked fine.

I also used two ropes but in my case I ran one from the front bottom corner around the Lower edge to the opposite side and one from the same point over the top edge to the opposite side. On my first attempt I could not pull the rope around the 90 degree corner - this allowed me to set both of those corners and work away from them.
