I've tested 5 different coils on a 951 during a dyno-session way back when. Not a single difference in the results. Sure, if you've got a coil that's going bad, replacing it with anything will make a difference. But if the factory coil is working, you won't be able to improve it.
Remember, this is a 4-banger with plenty of time to charge up the coil, even at 6500rpms. Even with only 3.6ms and only 5 out of 9-amps max-current, it's gotten enough charge to fire off the plugs on a stock 944 or 951. Sure, a single coil can run into insufficient dwell or charge-current when running a V8 at 8000rpms, but it's not an issue for our 4-bangers.
If you're looking to improve performance, time and money is better spent elsewhere to get more significant measureable results.
