I haven't read the other posts but...
a) Blast it with the .45
b) beat the sh it of it, and leave it outside for 24 hours so it doesn't even think of trying to be the boss around the place for the next year. A year later, first growl, beat the sh it out of it again.
c) have the vet put it down.
