How's your summer projects coming guys?
I have not been posting a lot lately, because I have been working my can off most of the summer .
I bought a backhoe in the spring, and I managed to make a warzone out of my front yard. I've been taking flak from my lady all season about the yard, but it is finally coming together and she can see the light at then end of the tunnel.
I basically had to replace a culvert that went under my driveway, and replace 300 some feet of drain pipe that a little creek was diverted into many years ago. the creek now runs like a mother and was flooding my yard every rainfall, and finally washed out my driveway this spring . It was a real challenge digging up the pipe, all the while managing all the water flow. I replaced all the 4 inch pipe with 12 inch pipe, and gave myself a cleanout every 50 feet. That project is basically done, I am waiting for it to settle a little more, then I'll go to topsoil, and plant some grass.
Then, I knocked down 5 really large trees that were right next to the house I somehow managed to do this without dropping the trees on anything. I dug out the root balls, and pushed them over with the hoe. I have two more stumps to bury, and a little more grading to do and this project will be done. This will be the area where I will build my mancave garage in the spring.
And just because I believe that ones plate can never be too full, last week, I bought a 2009 2500 hd with 8000 dents, bent bumpers, and a locked up 6.0 gas motor to replace my shop truck. I got that running last night, and should have the bumpers and hood back on tomorrow , and will put it into service shortly .
When you live in the northeast, you have to make hay while the sun is shining.
It is almost vacation season for us, and I am looking forward to some down time.
How are you making out?
