I got the engine cover release latch on my '87 3.2 to work properly! The engine cover (with the optional rear spoiler) now "pops up" properly when the release is pulled.
It just took complete dis-assembly, a good cleaning, reassembly, and very patient alignment.
For the first time since I got the car 7 years ago, I no longer have to hold the release handle while opening the engine lid.
