Steve - I appreciate you taking the time to drive each and posting your impressions. I may be in the market one of these days. Your opinions are of value to me.
For my weather and type of usage, I will be leaning toward a Cab with a hardtop - 996 or 997......Not sure I would be saying that if I lived in Huston and/or it was a daily driver? Individual choice.
Maybe you should shop in Calif and be willing to travel and see several on one trip?
