the reason I ask is many people think it's the best way to refinish a car .
so they go take all the finish off and 99% of the time the car does not have to be stripped to bare .
just because there is a bad repaint on the left qtr panel does not always mean you have to strip it of all it's finish . if there is more then 14 mils of paint then the car has to be stripped or the finish will chip and crack .
the OE under coats are the best you will find . can they be replace with the same quality well yes but at a very high cost to do so .
rust under the rear glass is common so you pull the glass and blast the area were the rust is .
pealing paint on one fender may only mean you have to strip only that panel .
I'm not saying you have to strip the hole car but I'm not saying you don't either .
I can't see the hole car in person and see how many mils are on the car .
all I'm saying is many times cars get stripped to bare for no good reason because people think it's the best way when it's not in all cases .
