If he can pull ok without coupling issues on the high side, let it rip for 10 minutes with low side disconnected and blue valve closed on manifold and see what happens once red manifold valve is shut off. (switch off the pump)
If there is a leak on the low side it will find its way to the high side in no time.
Worry about the low side connections later. This is just a test.

Using the manifold/gauges/vacuum to test for Schrader valve leaks should/can only be done on side at a time anyway. Same, but more appropriate, for POSITIVE pressure.
