There's one more difference. Shooting full-house loads in a lightweight J-frame-size revolver flat-out sucks no matter how you sugarcoat it.
Shooting full-house loads in a steel L-frame is pure fun.
A 686+ can also be cut for moon clips (if it isn't already), which adds another level of convenience.
