I tested the hood vents but never updated this thread, sorry for that.
The test (attached videos) shows that the location is a spot on the hood which still
has low enough pressure as to allow heat to escape.
I have noted lower engine temps since.
Also, I will be investigating a cold air collector directly above the air box
for additional ponies at speed and take advantage of the high pressure
area above the air cleaner location on the hood.
Late model Porsche GT3s do this and see 10-15 HP added just
taking advantage of the pressure build above 65mph.
