I suggest buying the kit from Renegade.
I'm also very interested in what your total weight and corner weights end up being using the LQ9. My understanding is that it's 50-70 lbs heavier than the aluminum LS engines. That would make it equivalent to the Porsche motor except that you have more accessories for the v8.
I'm using Evans Coolant. It's not water based and doesn't expand as it heats. This means I have no expansion tank to worry about.
If you're running the coolant lines through the rockers you're going to have air entrapment issues. Use a pressurized filler and put vent stopcocks where the hoses cross the gas tank.
I ran mine under, but it looks crappy. I may switch to your method, but right now I just want it running.
