I have to say a lot of the "jibberish" in the last three pages of post will not offset the good performance my 135,000 mile 944 has given to it's two ownership life using ONLY Shell Rotella SAE 10W40 dino oil. The first oil change at the dealership, when new, at 3000 miles has always been the same, no additives ever. No oil pressure issues, no leaks, no lifter noise. Can't argue sucess. Same goes for my old MB , It's at almost 190,000 miles. All old german n/a engines like dino oil. If I ever by anything "new" I would use Mobil 1. Oh yea, Shell Aero (dino) in the Tri-Pacer.........1800 hrs SMOH, no problems.
