Ideally some of us walk around the car to make sure tires are inflated before driving off. Last winter I was coming down my back lane and 50 yards from home the tire went flat. The old snow tire was really old anyway. Tire wall destroyed. Replaced both rear tires on the Porsche and back to normal. Way back my daughter comes home in the Nissan Xtrail suv from univ. Drives about 3 miles home with a flat tire. No damage to tire and reinflated it after removing nail and fixing it. Go figure.
A lot depends on the age of the tire. From what I see the longer you drive on an old tire the wall gets destroyed. Newer maybe can handle it. Maybe a bit of luck too.
