The water goes into a squirt/misting bottle. Warm up the engine, remove the air cleaner/filter and spray the water directly into the carburetor (throttle body now) while varying the engine speed up/down.
When the water droplets enter the combustion chamber they are turned into steam by the spark and combustion process.
Been doing it to ALL of my engines for decades. Cars, trucks, mowers, weed eaters, etc.
