I've seen this coming for quite a while. Corporations have become obsessed with their image. Witness Porsche's obsession over controlling any and all uses of its name and image, and the ever expanding legions of corporate lawyers dedicated to protecting that image. In the not too distant future I (or you!) might get a letter from the company saying I don't use, maintain, or present my Porsche in the appropriate manner, thus causing harm to their corporate brand. Do as they say, or they will expect their car returned. They may have sold you the hardware, but they retained ownership of the "image". Someday soon they will argue that gives them a controlling interest in that hardware. Its a strange world, and getting stranger by the day.
