The LSD transmissions of non modified 951's are very reliable, the constant velocity joints (CV joints) are not. It is easy to mistake CV joints noises for a bad transmission. By the way... CV joints are cheap and easy to replace.

By the way, has your mechanic purchased a new boat lately?
