FS 1983 911 SC Cabriolet SOLD 10-14-14!

FINAL UPDATE 10/15/14: I watched my former Cabriolet drive off on a transporter early this afternoon on her way to a well-earned retirement in Europe! I had originally intended not to do an international transaction but my buyer (RLX here on Pelican) made everything too easy to say no. Thanks to all of the Pelicans I have spoken with during the past 6 weeks or so for your interest and your knowledge.

Though I don't intend to do much until spring if you decide to sell or happen to know of a hard top or targa 964 or 993 in either drive configuration with a manual trans only let me know. The only color I won't look at is black. No more black! Thanks again to everyone!

UPDATE (FINAL?) As of October 9th a sale is pending for the car. Pelicans will be the first to know if something doesn't work out. Thank you everyone for your many offers, calls, and compliments. This has been a unique experience!

UPDATE 3! (9/30/2014) So far I've only offered car on Pelican and though many have expressed interest no one seems quite ready to buy. I'll keep it Pelican only for a few more days and lower the asking to $22K. This isn't a must sell so there is not thousands of wiggle room with this price but I will entertain reasonable offers. Thanks for looking!

UPDATE 2! (9/25/2014) Asking price reduced to $23K from 24,900. Local buyer backed out due to funding today. Make me an offer!

UPDATE! (9/8/14) 100+ Photos available on a public Picasa album! Please use the following link:

I never would have guessed my first post would be one advertising my car. I've lurked here for several years and I've learned an immense amount while reading. My sincere thanks to everyone!

That said I've owned the 83 Cab below since July of 2011. It has been an unbelievable experience and more fun than really anyone should be able to have while driving. Prior to me the car was ordered from a dealer in Buffalo new by a local brother and then sold to another brother in the late 90's. The family sold the car outright to what was Stoddard Porsche. When Stoddard sold to Penske the car came to a wholesale company owned by the same family who sold Stoddard. I worked for that family for the better part of the last decade and I immediately hopped in it (work perks!) in February of 2011 and really never got back out of it. I was, as they say, in the right place at the right time.

While a simply lovely car, it does not fit my family's current needs and though this is one I will most likely always regret letting go variety is the spice of life! The car is in good condition overall and I am religious when it comes to care. I did buy the car to drive it though and I think I've put roughly 15 to 20K on it over the last three years. There are stone chips and such on the front and though done well, I'm fairly confident it has had paint work in the past. The average person that sees the car thinks I take it out maybe two or three times a year. It's pretty clean.

Mechanically the car is all there, including the factory air-conditioning. I will happily provide in-depth details to anyone interested but it really is too much to list here. I also have additional photos available upon request.

September 6th...I've received a couple of quick responses to this posting all essentially asking the same questions. I apologize for not going into more detail but it was late in my world when I posted this.

So first question is miles. The car was sold to me showing 63758 on the odometer. However the odometer appears to have suffered from the common plastic gear failure and neither myself nor the original owner bothered to fix it. My best educated guess is the car now has on the high side 95K though in reality I'm building in a 5K mile cushion. The car will be sold with the mileage showing "non-actual" on the Ohio title. If you check the car fax you can see the accurate progression of miles until I believe 2004. I have a copy here somewhere but I haven't put my hands on it at this writing. I have service records from the original owners that bear this out. I've had the car in my garage since February of 2011 and Stoddard was displaying it for a year prior to that. The service records go back to 1984 and show a fairly consistent usage history. Essentially the car was pulled out each year in April or May and either towed or driven to the local Porsche store (what was Motorcars Porsche before becoming Fred Baker before recently becoming Porsche of Beachwood when Penske purchased the Baker franchise and merged it with the Stoddard franchise) to have an oil change, tune-up, detail, and battery depending on need handled plus any other item either the owner or the shop noticed. I'm very confident with the mileage based on the records I have as well as a chance conversation I had with the previous owner when he followed me to work in Bedford one day recognizing the car as his previous.

As I mentioned the service records are extensive and the car was very well taken care of. In 2000 the previous owner shelled out $8200 to have the transmission gone over, including replacing the 2nd gear synchro and installing a factory short-shift kit as well as updating the clutch and resurfacing the flywheel. Carerra tensioners were installed, wheel bearings replaced, and stainless steel brake lines done. Turbo tie-rods were installed as well. The work was performed by Fred Baker and the car had 59165 on it at the time. More recently I installed Goodyear Eagle GT tires (roughly 7500 miles ago) as well as replaced the cracked factory shift knob, updated the interior plastic door handles to our hosts' aluminum ones as well as many "little" things as they cropped up or as I found them. I relied on the car in 2011 and 2012 as my daily driver until the snow flew each year. 2013 saw very little use as my employer was erecting a new building and I couldn't stomach the dust build up everyday so it became a weekend/after work car for me. This year the car has seen minimal use due more or less to lack of time. I make a point to drive it at least once a week taking the car to operating temperature if I don't have any other use for it during normal driving.

And that is essentially why I think it's time to move the car on to someone else. I am afraid of letting it sit for long as I have a an old S500 that did not fair well with being left alone for extended periods and this car is just too good to let sit idle in my garage when I know someone else is out there who will love and take care of it just as well as the previous owners and myself has.

To those who requested additional pictures I will at a minimum get you interior shots today or tomorrow at latest and the exterior as soon as the rain lets up here.

PM me through here or call me at 330-459-one three four eight. I'm thinking 24900 is a good place to start but I am certainly open to offers.

Thanks!
