I would like to introduce Sir Henry Winston Sherlock. The shelter named him "Sherlock" and following my mothers theory that it is bad doggy juju to change the name completely, we just incorporated it.
The Mrs was surfing the Animal Shelter pages and found this little guy a few hours away. She has always had a soft spot for Miniature Schnauzers. In fact, she had two when we met some 18 years ago.
I get a call at work and get informed she is on her way home with a new family member. He is between 8-9 years old and we think he might have a hearing issue but will get him checked out with our vet. He was chipped back in 2006 but the info was never entered into the system. (NOTE: check your pets chip info to verify its current). He does well with men, women, kids, cats, hamsters, gold fish flying squirrels, lamas, hobbits, etc.....you get the point. Rides in cars well to the point he wants to jump into the back seat. He had even selected his own doggie bed from Petsmart. I put two down on the floor in front of him, where he then proceeded to check them both out before picking the one he wanted by walking on it and laying down( it was the squishier of the two). After a busy afternoon and the stress of relocation, when they returned after dark he promptly walked into the house, ate some din and then crashed on his new bed in the hallway. I then assembled his new crate(new concept to us as well) and then per the wife's request, relocated the crate to our bedroom(also new concept) to help the little guy acclimate to his new surroundings. He seems to like everything since he crashed out the entire night without a peep. It probably was his first quiet night since he entered the shelter environment.
We hope to give this guy a good stable home as well as fill the void in the wife's heart. He makes her happy and that's huge.
