9/11 changed the way we all live, but especially in NYC.
My company had 3 active contracts in the WTC complex. We had the requirements contracts for their plumbing, fire protection and HVAC systems. We came very close to losing people but thankfully that did not occur.
I don't want to do a tally of all those that I knew that were lost that day, but it ranges from childhood friends, schoolmates, neighbors (literally), relatives (firefighter), relatives of friends and of course so many business acquaintances.
I and I think so many of us here in NYC are always waiting "for the other shoe to drop". It wears on you. Everytime I go into Manhattan I think of which route I could use as an escape path back home, maybe we all do.
The first thing I saw this morning was the twin lights from the WTC site in remembrance and honor of 9/11 as I stepped out of my home to leave for work. I said a quick prayer with my son and continued on as we all do.
The wound never fully heals. Thanks to all who remembered yesterday and to those who serve us all to protect us all. We will never forget.
