My Android complaints were all the proprietary and other BS you couldn't delete on my Galaxy (I know... root it, but don't have the time). With the next one I went with a Nexus 5. It performs ok, but it runs through a fully charged battery every 18 hours with light-moderate use. Also the screen crapped out - on the bottom 90% of the screen every other row of pixels is dead. Damage was not from being dropped. I set it on the couch, came back 5 minutes later and WTF happened to the screen.
That's my concern about going to the other side. Everybody that loves Android seems to be an computer geek that roots it and customizes the hell out of things. I'm an engineer, so I use the term geek in the most positive of ways. I don't care about the ability to spend hours reprogramming my phone to exactly suit me, I don't care about open source, I don't care about making my own apps, etc. I just want it to work in the easiest and most common sense manner possible, if I want to tinker I'll head to the garage.
