I've never run an engine mounted cooler so have no opinion on how it would work on a 3.6/3.8 but have run 3.6 & 3.8 in early chassis, for street use 2 front fender mount or 1 front bumper mount are fine( so at a guess the fender mount and the engine mount will be fine for street use), for track use you need all the cooling you can fit, my 3.8RS track car is good w/ 2 very large Setrabs which have front air ducted directly into them, for an early chassis a very large bumper mount and at least one fender mount seem to work ok.
