The item/part numbers are the same at Home Depot vs. elsewhere but Home Depot is about $10 per knob less across the board. Are these the same hardware, or a cheapened HD version? Again the item/part numbers listed are the same. ?? Someone noted above that HD gets a stripped down version.??

Yup, HD often not the same. We buy house knobs/locks from
Locks, Hardware, Handles, Access Control | Taylor Security & Lock, have picked up a 'matching' one from HD and it comes with different backsets & hardware. The locking cylinders on HD deadbolts also have less pins.
